It’s just past 7am. I’ve got the last load of laundry in the wash, I’ve made coffee for Josh, tea for me, and I’m feeling pretty spunky. The light is on, the mocha is next to me, and so is Josh. He’s hanging out in my knitting chair with his Nook while I sit here and soak up the rays. Yes, he’s awake too. Not bad for a Saturday morning.
I didn’t really manage anything else on my official to do list yesterday. I was able to put a fairly tasty dinner on the table though. We finally had the grilled salmon. I made it with tiny roasted potatoes and broccoli with cheese sauce. For dessert we had cheesecake. And we started a rousing series of dominoes. I had told my mom I wanted to play cards – I’m damn good at Rummy. But she suggested dominoes instead and then proceeded to hand me my ass – she won the first 3 rounds. We’re about half way through the series and she’s winning by a huge margin. I believe I’m the only one who hasn’t won a round yet. Oh well, it was fun. We used to play pretty regularly with my dad and this reminds me of him.
I still haven’t made a single butterfly this entire vacation. I’m thinking today I’m going to have to sit down and really concentrate. I need to have them completely finished and assembled by next Sunday – that’s not much time at all. I haven’t looked recently but I think I need to make 22 and I only have 5 part way done so far. Not good progress thus far. They don’t take very long to make, I’m just still not entirely sure how I’m going to assemble everything.
Evie Cat apparently has a thing for shedding on anything light colored. Most mornings she waits until I make the bed and then proceeds to roll around on my cream colored bed spread. This morning I stripped the sheets off so I could wash them so now she’s rolling around on the mattress pad. I guess she’s just an equal opportunity shed beast.
The mood has been fairly decent. I’m getting reasonable sleep again which I know helps. I am rather looking forward to going back to my routines next week. The mornings are what’s odd. I’m never quite sure who else will be awake when I get up and how much time I’ll be able to spend with the sun lamp. I know on the days I get plenty of light that I feel better, but I don’t want to stay holed up down here when everyone else is upstairs talking and such.
But anyway, things are pretty good. Josh and I have been getting along quite well recently and that makes me happy. I hope we can well and truly get back to a good place before I go back to work on Monday. Half the reason for taking this vacation was to reconnect with him and I’d have to say that that’s been going pretty well. We still have the occasional rough patch, but they don’t seem to get as bad or last as long.
