I owe y’all an apology. When I did the whole “quick picture” post-y thingy from my phone yesterday I had no fucking clue that it would be like dropping a banner on the side of the Empire State Building. Sweet ceiling cat and all the holy squirrels, had I known it was going to be THAT FUCKING BIG I never ever would have done it. Honestly.
But yes, I survived. It went well, or so I’m told. All I know is that I got through it, had a nice conversation with an ID dude from one of the other campuses, ate a totally shitty lunch, hid for an hour to make sure my nerves were steady enough, and then promptly got lost trying to find my way out of town.
I eventually found the interstate again and then it was smooth sailing, except for the idiots on the road. The other campus is about an hour from where I live, most easily accessed by major interstate that runs roughly northeast to southwest. And the winds are nearly always out of the north. I drive a jeep. You can draw your own picture today, I’m too damn lazy.
I got within 5 exits of where I’d normally get off and traffic just stopped. No sweat, I can totally get home from here. And that was a really good thing, because from the exit ramp I could see the big ugly accident that had everything at a stand still.
So I was home before Josh, and that meant one thing and one thing only – Culver’s. Lunch had been utter garbage and I didn’t really trust myself to not get lost again, so I drove straight home. Josh drives right by Culver’s on his way to the house, which is less than a mile. I got hot fries and a delish Reuben. Then my afternoon was better.
The class I taught this morning was fine, just not what I had planned on. More people showed up than signed up, which was good, but the computers weren’t exactly cooperating, which was not good. And then I took my syllabus and chucked it and we just kind of talked about things they had questions about. In all I think it was a roaring success. I’m doing another session this afternoon – slightly different topic – that I’m hoping also goes well.
And I decided that I could maybe check my grade for that torture I put up with this semester. I got an A. Of course. Third in a row. Yuyeah!
I realized earlier today that this is the first time since June of last year – so almost a whole 12 months now – that I don’t have something to do for school this weekend. And that feels pretty fucking amazing.
