Welcome to Mama’s Holiday Edition of Top 10 Tuesday! Today we have my Top 10 Favorite Christmas Songs.
- Joy to the World – The church my parents went to while I was growing up did a candlelight service late on Christmas Eve and we always sang this at the very end after communion while everyone was lighting their candles. Truly lovely.
- God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen – The Barenaked Ladies version is superior to all others.
- Do They Know it’s Christmas? – Hey, I’m a child of the 80s, I can’t help it. BNL’s version is awesome.
- Christmas Day – This is sung by Dido and is hauntingly beautiful.
- Little Drummer Boy – I prefer Bob Seger’s take on this one.
- Polly Anderson’s Christmas Party – By Stuart McLean of course. Not a song, but a Christmas tradition for me nonetheless.
- The Season’s Upon Us – What’s Christmas without a little swearing and ass kicking? Dropkick Murphys, naturally.
- The Cat Carol – Makes me cry every time. Watch at your own risk.
- Jingle Bell Rock – Randy Travis does a really nice version of this one.
- Christmas – By Blues Traveler, it’s just fab.
