inAlright kids, it’s time to get y’all ready for a challenge I know I’m going to do, mostly because I need to do it for myself. On May 8th I’m starting Mama’s First Annual Summer Drawing Challenge. Every other Friday I’ll post a prompt of what to draw. You’ll have two weeks to make a drawing and then link back to that post to show off what you’ve done. I have 12 prompts lined up which should get us through until sometime in August. If anyone has a suggestion I’d love to hear it. So get your thinking caps on and sharpen your pencils!

Not sure if anyone else remembers, but back in February Deborah hosted a 28 Day Challenge to help us all get our motivation/productivity on. I had a blast with it and got a ton of stuff completed. I was thinking that perhaps doing that again would be a really good idea. Given that today is May 1 and I’m just now having this thought I don’t believe I’ll be wanting to start today, but would anyone be on board for starting June 1?

I’ve only got a moment kids, but the Eejit got me to thinking last night and I have got to get this out of my brain pan before my head explodes. So, without further ado, welcome to Mama’s FIRST Mid-Month Challenge!
Here’s how I envision things playing out. Towards the middle of the month I’ll give y’all a Theme. You’ll get until the end of the month to create something based on the theme. By something I mean:
Really, ANYTHING.
Then you post it, use the tag “MMMC” so we can all see your excellent thingy, and link back to this post.
The first theme will be SPRING.
Go!

I like to keep busy, mostly because it keeps me out of trouble, but also because I like the feels of being productive. But I’m getting a fuckton of stuffage on my plate these days, so I go to thinking yesterday that maybe I should take on a bit of a challenge that involves doing something that’s kind of more like doing nothing.
And now that I have y’all thoroughly confused, I’ll explain.
You may or may not know the lovely Sian from My Purse is Closed, but you should. She’s funny as fuck and she’s doing something that I think is really cool – she’s trying really hard not to spend money on stuff she doesn’t need. Really, we should all do that, but she saw a problem with her spending habits and is working to fix it. And I love this idea.
Lately I’ve been working to embrace a more minimalist lifestyle. I’ve been going through my possessions and getting rid of things I don’t need or that don’t bring me some kind of joy. I’ve been unsubscribing from email newsletters and promotions because I don’t make time to read them anyway. Basically I’ve been streamlining where possible so that I have time to enjoy my life. And that’s really where the challenge part comes in – keeping this going.
I haven’t for sure decided yet what this is going to look like for me, but I know it’s going to include money and not spending it on shit I don’t really want and definitely don’t need. What I’m wondering is if anyone else is interested in doing something like this with me. I’m thinking that if we do it together, we’re more likely to stick with it.
What do y’all think? Anyone interested in jumping on this bandwagon with me?

inAs promised, there will be a challenge this summer. I don’t have quite everything setup yet (mostly this interesting link up thingyjigger), but here’s what I do have.
That’s basically it. Here are the prompts:
If you’re interested, leave me a note in the comments. I’ll put up a sign up form on the page (that I still need to create, fuck) just as soon as I get off my macaroni-salad-eating-dead-ass.

Oy, what a weekend. Every time I have a long weekend I go into it thinking “this will be the most awesome thing EVAH!” But when it’s almost over, I’m chomping at the bit to get back to work. And then when I do get back to work it’s all, “someone get the shovel, I’ve got a plan for the tunnel out of this joint.”
The tunnel moment happened at approximately 7:23am. I didn’t get here until 7:20 this morning.
Anyway, it was a good weekend. We got tons of shit done and the space looks phenomenal. I tore apart the bookshelves, got the entire music collection cataloged, cleaned out my pj drawer, organized some of the cupboards in the basement, organized some files on the laptop, made some excellent pork roast, and brought some things to the office. This morning I cleaned out and organized the one remaining cupboard in the office that hadn’t been touched and went through my paper files.
I’ve got a fuckton of ideas for future posts, some of them already written. I’m totally grooving on this whole “write now and schedule for the dumping later” business. Totes phenom.
Speaking of working ahead, I’m just about ready to unleash the idea for the challenge I’m going to host. Here’s the sketchy details:
I’m still working on the name and the banner-esque thingy for it. Suggestions are welcome.
Wow, yeah, that’s all I’ve got.
