top 10 tuesdayWelcome to Mama’s Holiday Edition of Top 10 Tuesday! Today we have my Top 10 Favorite Christmas Songs.

  1. Joy to the World – The church my parents went to while I was growing up did a candlelight service late on Christmas Eve and we always sang this at the very end after communion while everyone was lighting their candles. Truly lovely.
  2. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen – The Barenaked Ladies version is superior to all others.
  3. Do They Know it’s Christmas? – Hey, I’m a child of the 80s, I can’t help it. BNL’s version is awesome.
  4. Christmas Day – This is sung by Dido and is hauntingly beautiful.
  5. Little Drummer Boy – I prefer Bob Seger’s take on this one.
  6. Polly Anderson’s Christmas Party – By Stuart McLean of course. Not a song, but a Christmas tradition for me nonetheless.
  7. The Season’s Upon Us – What’s Christmas without a little swearing and ass kicking? Dropkick Murphys, naturally.
  8. The Cat Carol – Makes me cry every time. Watch at your own risk.
  9. Jingle Bell Rock – Randy Travis does a really nice version of this one.
  10. Christmas – By Blues Traveler, it’s just fab.
