I snapped that on my walk across campus this morning. That snow shit is so much prettier when you don’t have to drive in it. The roads did get better yesterday afternoon, which was good because Mom’s new living room lamps and a picture she had reframed were ready. Yours truly trekked out in the jeepster and freezingness. Quite the adventure. Add Michaels to the list of places I shouldn’t be allowed to go to.
Anyway, the drive this morning was only mildly treacherous. On the flattest part of my entire drive there is a single 4-way stop. I attempted to stop but it was a sheet of glare ice under my tires so I looked right, looked left, let off the brake and gently applied the gas. Safer to blow a stop sign than to lock up the wheels completely and end up in one of the little drainage ditches that run along that road. The only other bit of excitement was on the same road but involved a dude on a fucking bicycle. In his defense, he appeared to be riding because he had no other choice – he wasn’t one of those health nuts. But he had totally inadequate reflecting devices and he was smack ass in the middle of the fucking road.
And they’re talking about even more coming later today and first thing tomorrow. I hate this part of winter. I know we need the moisture, temperately, but driving in it just makes me a wreck. That’s probably because every single car accident I’ve ever caused had to do with winter weather. Nothing like ramming into the ass end of a cop cruiser on your way to meet the new in-laws for Christmas. Good times.
But yesterday was indeed productive as I had hoped it would be. I didn’t get any additional school stuff done but I was able to:
- clean out the crap from my file drawer
- color the flower
- dust the basement and start to pare down some of the knick-knacks
- all of the little chores Mom asked me to do
- walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes
Not too fucking shabby.
