If you’re just joining me for the first time, I’ve got a list of 10 Major Goals I want to accomplish before I turn 40 in 2016. That’s what I refer to as my Life Worth Living; it’s a DBT thing. If you don’t want to stay stuck where you’ve been in life, you have to figure out where you want to go and what it would take to truly make your life worth living.
Every week I do a Creative, Stress Management, Health, Financial, and School goal that tie back to my Building a Life Worth Living project. I’ve also added a Simplifying goal that ties into my plan to declutter my life this year. Bit by bit I’m reaching for the stars.
Update from last week:
Not bad, all things considered. There have been some changes taking place at work that are proving to be quite interesting, but nothing I can’t handle. I’ve been taking advantage of my momentum at home with the whole Simplifying thing and done the same at work. I cleared out so much stuff that I was able to eliminate an entire storage cabinet in my office! And it looks really good in there.
Creative – Draw another picture for the shops and finish a small project I’m working on. Yes and no. I did a new picture, finished it, finished coloring a pic I started in January, scanned and removed the backgrounds from both. Not uploaded yet, but that’s the easy part. Did not finish the small project.
Stress Management – Trying the treadmill thing. Again. No. Again.
Health – I had my annual eye exam today after work, like a good kid. There’s a history of eye issues in my family so I’m fairly diligent about getting mine checked. No change in my vision so that means I can use my full insurance benefit towards a new pair of Rx sunglasses. Got my new sunglasses ordered on Saturday and made the very most of my benefit by selecting frames that are lovely but inexpensive. Hopefully they’ll be here within a week.
Financial – Pay day is the end of this week, so time to pay bills. Again. Done AND I was able to pay the extra part of a payment that was left on the Honda so by this time next month it should be 100% PAID OFF. My plan is to start paying that “extra” money to Mom towards the Jeep.
School – The case study assignment. Yes, and the revisions from the previous assignment. And the promotional piece. And the cover for my manual. And I found several potential articles for an abstract I have to write.
Simplifying – This wasn’t one of the things I’d listed for February, but I’ve done pretty much everything else. So I think I’ll go through my jewelry armoire again with a more critical eye. Yes, there are a few little bags of random things that I’m going to take to work and see if any of the ladies there would like them. Nothing wrong with any of it, just not stuff that I’ve been wearing.
Goals for this week:
Work is getting busy again as is life around home. I have a ton of things I’d like to get done, so let’s just see how well I do, eh?
Creative – Draw another new design for the shops, finish the small project, back to work on the shrug.
Stress Management – Practice mindfulness and remind myself as often as necessary that I am ultimately only responsible for my own actions.
Health – Pay more attention to what I shove in my face hole this week.
Financial – Shouldn’t need to put any money out this week, so I won’t.
School – Continue to stay caught up and work ahead as much as possible. At the very least I need to get the abstract written and catch myself back up with the reading.
Simplifying – March is Linens & Stuff in the Bathroom month, which I have a weird tendency to go through a lot anyway. Actually, looking over that list, I don’t need to do any of that shit. Hmm… I’ll think of something. Eventually. Maybe I’ll clean my desk drawer out again, it’s kind of trashed right now.
