First off, I wanted to share this article with y’all. It’s about how to make sure that you complete the projects you start AND it totally backs up Green Embers’ Building Rome idea! How fucking cool is that?

I had my doc appointment this afternoon. To be totally honest, I was scared as hell. What I didn’t tell y’all about my last visit with shrinky-poo was that she dropped an F-bomb on me. We were talking about all the weird random pain I have anymore and she said it could be from the stress or it could be fibromyalgia.

WHOA.

So given that I prefer to keep to a strict policy of Utter Denial about such things, I only whispered tiny peeps to Mom and Josh. And then pretended it never happened.

When I saw the doc today he did several physical test things which mostly consisted of poking and prodding various parts of my back and legs. His conclusion is that I definitely do NOT have fibro. However, I also do NOT get enough sleep regularly enough and that’s finally taking a very real physical toll on my body.

Sitting in front of me is a lovely bottle of something called Soma. I haven’t looked it up yet, but I know it must be good because his office couldn’t just call it in to the pharmacy – I had to carry it there myself. I was also finally able to get THREE REFILLS of the really awesome migraine med he had given me ages ago and then his fucking rotten ass nurse wouldn’t ever call the pharmacy back with the authorization. So YAY on that.

Anyway, I’ve taken one of the Soma pills – I get 3 per day – figuring it’s probably a good idea to know what they’re going to do to me while I’m safely in the comfort of my own home.

cartoon-craziness-challenge-bannerHere’s my entry for this week’s Cartoon Craziness Challenge, “happiness.” It’s supposed to be my nieces. Apparently I’m still not that great at drawing people.

2014-08-05 17.38.31I assure you, they are MUCH cuter than this. MUCH.

I also managed to draw this last night…

2014-08-05 17.35.44She came out significantly better. Still not sure if I’m going to try coloring her or not – the original was very muted shades of pink and green.

And just because I can, gratuitous pussy shot…

2014-08-05 17.40.54My tiny editor.

Apparently I was so whacked out of my mind that I neglected to realize I had scheduled this post for later this evening. So yeah, no Soma for me during the work day. But I should sleep wonderfully tonight!

top 10 tuesdayMorning kids, welcome to yet another edition of Top 10 Tuesday. Today I’m going to show you some of my favorite craft projects I’ve done over the years. I’m hoping this inspires me to get creative again and start doing things.

Rios Sweater

Rios Sweater

I’ve knit 4 sweaters for myself so far, and this one is my favorite. The yarn is beautiful, soft, and the color is gorgeous. (and it fits!)

the hat, for GoldFish

the award winning hat

I used to go to a yarn shop every Thursday night to hang out and knit with other women. They decided to have a hat contest that was voted on by folks who came into the shop. This was my first place winning hat.

2014-06-02 20.21.38Cross stitch peony in a vase. I can’t remember what the Chinese character is. I love this piece, but I would NEVER use that kind of frame again. Total pain in the ass to get on the wall.

2014-08-04 10.00.50This is what’s in the gold frame next to the peony. It’s a blackwork sampler that I put together from individual bands I found on the internet. I worked on this a lot during my lunch breaks at work.

2014-06-02 20.42.28At one point in my life I had this delusion that I’d make this filet crochet rose valance to go around the top of a canopy bed Rob was going to build for us. Why yes, I was manic at the time! I got exactly enough done to span the opening on my desk above where my laptop sits. It’s beautiful.

2014-06-02 20.42.38This is my little blue angel friend. She was done a long time ago, back when I could hold beads that tiny still. She also hangs on my desk. And she was the only one I made that looks like that.

2014-08-04 10.01.57That’s a single color cross stitch on linen. I don’t like to cross stitch on linen, it’s a bitch. But I was determined.

2014-08-04 10.02.49That is a mostly lousy picture of a painted glass window piece that I did. I found a stained glass rose pattern online, resized it, and then did the glass painting. The frame was a garage sale find. It had this extra wood mat bit that Rob wrapped with purple fabric to enhance the piece.

2014-08-04 10.03.47For awhile I made a lot of my own jewelry. I still do sometimes, but evidently I’ve parted with a lot of it. This has always been one of my favorites because I had to figure out how to make it happen, without any real guidance.

Make Believe sock

Make Believe sock

I rarely wear socks, even when it’s cold, but I love knitting them. Mom and Josh both had knit socks before I did, and they both have more pairs than I do. Of the 2 pair I’ve made for me, these are my fav.

There you have it, 10 of my favorite craft projects I’ve made. Go forth and be creative!
