Morning kids, welcome to yet another edition of Top 10 Tuesday. Today I’m going to show you some of my favorite craft projects I’ve done over the years. I’m hoping this inspires me to get creative again and start doing things.
I’ve knit 4 sweaters for myself so far, and this one is my favorite. The yarn is beautiful, soft, and the color is gorgeous. (and it fits!)
I used to go to a yarn shop every Thursday night to hang out and knit with other women. They decided to have a hat contest that was voted on by folks who came into the shop. This was my first place winning hat.
Cross stitch peony in a vase. I can’t remember what the Chinese character is. I love this piece, but I would NEVER use that kind of frame again. Total pain in the ass to get on the wall.
This is what’s in the gold frame next to the peony. It’s a blackwork sampler that I put together from individual bands I found on the internet. I worked on this a lot during my lunch breaks at work.
At one point in my life I had this delusion that I’d make this filet crochet rose valance to go around the top of a canopy bed Rob was going to build for us. Why yes, I was manic at the time! I got exactly enough done to span the opening on my desk above where my laptop sits. It’s beautiful.
This is my little blue angel friend. She was done a long time ago, back when I could hold beads that tiny still. She also hangs on my desk. And she was the only one I made that looks like that.
That’s a single color cross stitch on linen. I don’t like to cross stitch on linen, it’s a bitch. But I was determined.
That is a mostly lousy picture of a painted glass window piece that I did. I found a stained glass rose pattern online, resized it, and then did the glass painting. The frame was a garage sale find. It had this extra wood mat bit that Rob wrapped with purple fabric to enhance the piece.
For awhile I made a lot of my own jewelry. I still do sometimes, but evidently I’ve parted with a lot of it. This has always been one of my favorites because I had to figure out how to make it happen, without any real guidance.
I rarely wear socks, even when it’s cold, but I love knitting them. Mom and Josh both had knit socks before I did, and they both have more pairs than I do. Of the 2 pair I’ve made for me, these are my fav.
There you have it, 10 of my favorite craft projects I’ve made. Go forth and be creative!
I absolutely love the angel and the jumper!!
I used to do a lot of embroidery too-I’ve got a geisha one that’s been on the go for about 10 years now lol (it’s nearly done 😀 )
I saw this fabulous idea the other day for a new project. You take a book you love and circle various words out of a page so that they read like a poem or a phrase you love and then you draw a scene and colour in the rest of the page leaving the word bubbles blank (if that makes sense!) I’m thinking of giving this a go as my next creative thing xx

This is the link for the book thing, she explains it far better than I’ve just done!! It even has a ‘proper’ name 🙂 xx

Very interesting idea! I might have to see if I can find somewhere to get old books that I don’t really care about. I’ve purged mine so many times that the ones that are left are treasures. 🙂

I love the angel and my dad would love the socks, he is a fan of handknitted socks, sadly I have ten thumbs lol

Thanks! Socks are fun, but a little tricky. The way I do it uses 5 small double pointed needles at once, so it’s rather like wrestling with a porcupine at first. 😉

My favourite is the blackwork. I used to crotchet and cross stitch but my eyes aren’t up to the task any more.

Thank you! As I was walking around the house last night I kept finding more things I could have showed y’all – lots more crochet. Mom has a doily I did that’s probably a good 2 1/2 ft across that she had professionally frame. It’s beautiful.

I love all of them! I just started my first crewel embroidery. It’s for beginners, but it’s fun. I love seeing your projects. They make me feel inspired to pick up some of the ones I haven’t finished.

I’ve never tried crewel before, but it looks beautiful. I can’t wait to see it! I’m glad my stuff is inspiring you – it inspired me a little, too. I did 2 sketches last night and managed to knit just a little. I’m hoping since it’s a school night that I’ll have lots of time tonight to do things.

Maybe I can turn some PlayDoh into something. Keep you posted. 🙂

PlayDoh is always good. 🙂 Have you ever played with Sculpey? It’s an oven bake clay that you can paint (if you get the plain color) or in all kinds of colors. It’s kind of nifty.

I love the name of it, I must have it!

It’s pretty cool. Our Michael’s carries a pretty decent selection of it and some other brands that are really similar. The big box of plain Sculpey is usually the best value, the small colored blocks are usually $2 something and really not very big.

These are amazing, I love them. My favourite tho is the hat, or maybe the angel, no way I think it’s the jewelley, ah feck, they are all lush! I’m jealous 🙂
